This article highlights some of the new music that was released the week ending May 24, 2019.
Empathy Test
The London synthwave band returns with a new single Empty Handed. This will be released on June 20 with a b-side called A River Loves A Stone and a few remixes as well. This is a more mature sound for the band who has come a long way since their debut single Losing Touch, which is still a favorite of ours. Recommended for fans of Unkle or IAMX.
Astari Nite
As If You Were Dead is the brand new single from the Miami post punk band that will appeal to fans of The Psychedelic Furs or Peter Murphy, both artists that they have toured with. These guys are one of our favorite bands in their genre.
Torul
The title track from The Sooner The Better EP released today. Torul has treated us in the past with their club hit Try. They are back with their trade mark sound that combines dark vocals similar to early Ministry and music reminiscent of some of the heavier Depeche Mode tracks.
Mr.Kitty
Taken from their brand new album Ephemeral which features 30 brand new tracks full of dark electronic dance tracks. Recommended for fans of IAMX or Boy Harsher.
The Flaming Lips
Taken from the album The Kings Mouth which was a previous Record Store Day exclusive. This track features Mick Jones and is an experimental track that has some Sigur Ros elements to it.
The Chain Gang Of 1974
This is the bands new single Ordinary Fools, Pt 2. Part 1 previously appeared on the 2014 Daydream Forever album. This track has a bit more of a guitar edge compared to their traditional synth heavy sound. It even contains a few riffs that will make New Order fans happy.
